Our History

Alo ! Mik has been operating in Albania since 2003, running different projects to ensure holistic wellbeing of children, especially for the more vulnerable. Through the years, Alo ! Mik has expanded it area of expertise from direct interventions with vulnerable children and their families, to empowerment of local actors through training, networking and resources sharing.

Our leadership

Sylvain Vergnon – Founder & Executive Director 

Beyond its education in a business school in Lyon and a master in Project Management in Socio-Medical Institutions, Sylvain`s heart was caught by children in needs, here in Albania. In 1999, Sylvain discovered the hard reality of refugees’camps during Kosovo war, and then progressively get involved with orphans and children in street situation in Tirana. Over 18 years, his day-to-day engagement with a Roma community and extreme poverty challenged and enriched his worldview as well as its own journey. Sylvain loves to explore … with people walking through brokenness. 

Ruth Vergnon – Founder & Operations Manager 

Trained as a primary school teacher, Ruth`s passion is about children and teaching. Albania was the place to invite her to get specialized for children in need. Ruth has a master’s in child Protection and is specializing in Childhood Trauma. She loves to facilitate training for those working with children in need. 

Masilda Terolli – Manager Oaz Center 

Since se was a teenager, Masilda has been involved with children and more specifically children in need. She has a heart of compassion for those who are rejected and she is fully committed to what she is doing with the children and families of Oaz Center. In order to offer more informed care, she is finishing a Master in Counselling and she is getting trained in Trauma Informed Care.

Bukurije Prendi – Manager Eden Park 

Despite a background as a food technologist, her passion for children and serving God led her to take a step of faith and join us in taking responsibility for Eden Park. Her management skills, coupled with a heart that is sensitive to broken lives, allow her to contribute making Eden Park a place of hope.

Board members 

Erion Prendi  

Erion is a member of the founding board of Radio 7, the largest Christian network in Albania. Since 2007, he leads “Words of Hope Albania”, an evangelical media ministry whose aim is to proclaim Christian faith through media and literature. Erion is also part of the Executive Committee of the Albania Evangelical Alliance. Erion has been a faithful friend of Alo ! Mik since the beginning but became a board member in 2015. 

Alfred Zefi  

Fred is the Regional Director of Hope for the World Albania. His heart for the broken have led him to become active in a variety of projects in the North of Albania: ministering to children leaving in residential institutions, to vulnerable families but also coordinating projects like Food bank Shkoder or Operation Chrtistmas Child. Fred is involved with Alo ! Mik since 2015. 

Elton Prifti  

Elton is an independent lawyer. He has been involved with Alo ! Mik since the beginning in 2003. He has facilitated the registration of the foundation and became its first Executive director up to 2008. He is still contributing to keep the vision and mission of the foundation in its role as a board member. 

Sokol Falmuraj  

Sokol is pastoring a church in Lushnja, a city in the South of Albania. He is passionate about reaching people in the most remote places. Sokol and Sylvain first met through Operation Christmas Child project in 2007 and in 2008 Sokol joined Alo ! Mik as a board member. 

Dritan Profka 

Dritan is an Environment & Energy Engineer with over 20 years of professional experience in a number of energy sector related areas. He has been involved both in local and international organizations as a project leader, and in the Polytechnic University of Tirana as a Lecturer. Dritan has been providing his engineering expertise in the Board of Alo ! Mik since 2015 for the different building projects.
